Slipped away peacefully, surrounded by family at Champlain Manor Retirement Residence, Orillia, ON, January 25, 2012, at 82 years of age. Gord was born in Windsor and lived there until relocating to Waubaushene a few years ago to live in his much enjoyed log home – his cabin in the woods, "River's Bend." Beloved husband of the late Patricia Ann (Patsy) nee Scott (2004). Loving father of Bonnie and husband Ronald Durocher (Windsor), Jill (2008) and husband Daniel Poisson (Windsor), and Sheryl (Sherry) and husband Peter Dunn (Waubaushene). Cherished Papa of Stephanie, Suzie, Jimmy, Richard, Amy, Sarah, and Cameron. Son of the late Horace and Cora Chappell, and son-in-law of the late Clayton (Scotty) and Irene Scott. Dear brother of Alex and Marvel (2000) Chappell - with special acknowledgement to Mavis Clarke (2010), and Horace Chappell (1941). Dear brother-in-law of Donald (2005) and Eilleen Scott, Sharon and Fred (2006) McCrindle. Survived by many loved nieces, nephews, and friends. Retired 1991 from The Salvation Army Grace Hospital as Assistant Executive Director, having worked many years there in various capacities. Gord was a member of Trinity Lodge No. 521, a 50 year member and the last Master of Palace Lodge # 604 AF & AM, and a 32 degree Mason with Scottish Rite, Rose Croix and the Windsor Lodge of Perfection. Also a distinguished past president and long standing member of Roseland Golden K Kiwanis Club. Donations to Canadian Wildlife Federation or The Seeing Eye Organization would be appreciated by the family. Visiting Thursday, Feb. 2nd 7-9pm and Friday, Feb. 3rd 2-5pm and 7-9pm. Masonic Services Friday, Feb. 3rd 7:30pm at Families First Funeral Home & Tribute Centre (519-969-5841) 3260 Dougall Avenue, Windsor. On Saturday, Feb. 4th family and friends will meet at Paulin Memorial Presbyterian Church, 3200 Woodland Ave (where Gord took pride in his long membership), after 10am followed by Funeral service 11am.
