KRUKOWSKI, Janina (Jean)

February 11, 1926-October 17, 2011

85 years of age. Dancing FINALLY in the eternal garden with her beloved and devoted late husband Mike (Mieczyslaw) (2010), with whom she shared 61+ years of a very strong marriage. Recently of Riverside Place-Many thanks to the dedicated staff there, especially Angie MacLeod (Director of Care), Marcie and Ewa. Jean and Mike immigrated to Canada in 1949 from their beloved Poland (Via England) and worked very hard to make a better life for their family. Cherished mother of Robert Krukowski, Christine McKay, and Mary Ann Aczel and husband Tony. Proud Babcia to Ray Desmarais, Renee Barker (Greig), Amy O'Halloran (Mike), Kim Hebert (Chris), Adam Aczel (Heather), Aaron Aczel and girlfriend Alexandra, and Aric Aczel. Doting great grandmother of Austen, Jordan, Ali, and Nolan. She will be missed by her loving sister Teresa Zurawski (Eugene) of Florida. For many years, Jean worked as a waitress in some of Windsor's finest dining establishments to help support her family. She was exceptionally warm, caring, and generous and her family was the centre of her universe. She was certainly the "Hostess with the Mostess" as she immensely enjoyed entertaining. Her cooking and baking are legendary! Sometimes we still get a craving for her homemade specialties, like her cinnamon buns. Jean loved her flower garden and houseplants, especially the bearded irises and African violets. She was very talented at decoupage, knitting, crocheting and we still cherish all of the homemade gifts, like the fuzzy Christmas scarves we all received one year. Despite all the hardships Jean endured in her life, she was the eternal optimist. Let's strive to be more like her in this respect. If you so desire donations to the Alzheimer's Society of Windsor and Essex County would be appreciated by the family. Visitation on Thursday from 3-5 and 7-9 pm. Prayers Thursday at 4:30 pm. Funeral Friday 9:45 am from FAMILIES FIRST 1065 LAUZON RD. East Windsor (519-969-5841) to Holy Trinity Catholic Polish Church for a funeral Mass at 10:30 am. Interment Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
