John O. Porter

December 29, 1921 to November 1, 2011. Passed away at home with his family at his side. John is survived by his wife of 66 years, Wyn Porter, his three children, John Cameron (Jay) Porter and wife Laura, Drew Porter, Anne Elizabeth and husband Jamie Suthers, as well as eight grandchildren. Jack was fortunate to have a full life. Raised in Windsor during the depression, he served as a Lieutenant with the Essex Kent Scottish Regiment during WWII. He rode horses with native Americans in the Dakota's, developed the Coronado subdivision in Tecumseh, became a pilot and much more. Most importantly, he was a devout family man - caring deeply for his wife and imparting strong values to his children. He loved good humour, a dog by his side and was a student of history. His life is celebrated - though he will certainly be missed. We thank all those who assisted in his care, particularly Mark Mitchell and the personnel from Red Cross and Paramed, all of whom were exceptional. In kindness, donations made to the Red Cross would be appreciated by the family. Cremation services have taken place. Arrangements entrusted to FAMILIES FIRST 1065 LAUZON RD. East Windsor (519-969-5841).
