Joyce Eberle

Joyce was born in Sheffield, England to Emily Oakley and Joseph Brewin. She was the seventh of twelve children. She grew up in Hong Kong and was evacuated to Sydney, Australia in 1941. On her birthday in 1944, she met a Canadian soldier, S/Sgt Wilson E. Eberle, whom she married the following year. In 1946 she arrived in Windsor and lived the balance of her life in South Windsor. Joyce was an active member of St. James Anglican parish for more than fifty years. She is survived by three sisters and many nieces and nephews in Australia. Her surviving siblings are Emily Rodgers, Audrey Heffernan and Janet Wiseman. Surviving in-laws include Ana Eberle of Windsor and Morley Eberle of Kingsville. Joyce and her husband, Wilson (1998) have four children, Allan (Carol) of Windsor, Elizabeth Wood (David) of Breslau, Jo-Anne Fraser (David) and Marilyn Martinuik both of Windsor. Joyce's seven grand children include Wilson (Jennifer) of Kelowna, BC, Daniel Wood (Monika) of Toronto, David Wood (Larysa) of Waterloo, James Wood (1984), Carolyn Wood (Colin) of Whitehorse YK, Megan Fraser and Lauren Martinuik. Joyce lived long enough to meet five great grandchildren. They are Paige and Grant Eberle, Veronica Wood, Konrad and Kaiden Wood. Joyce has been a resident of Huron Lodge in South Windsor for nearly five years. Joyce's family would like to thank Arlene Poulter and her entire Dogwood team at Huron Lodge, for their compassionate care during a difficult time. A thank - you also goes out to the seventh floor staff at Hotel Dieu Grace. Donations to the Parkinson's Society of Southwestern Ontario would be appreciated by the family. Visiting Monday 5-8 p.m. Funeral Tuesday 11:30am at Families First 3260 Dougall Ave. South Windsor, 519-969-5841. Interment Victoria Memorial Gardens.
