Marian Baruth-Dean

Peacefully on November 11, 2011 at the age of 81. Predeceased by her sweetheart and husband Charlie Dean (2006). Beloved Mom to Carol (Scott), Don (Pat), James, Bob (Lisa) and Mary Ellen (Roy). Grandma to Elisabeth (Lee), Michael, Christine, Caitlin, Ben and three great grand-children. Mrs. B, as she was known by the neighbourhood kids, always had room at the table for one more, and always had time to listen to those who came to her to for help. She loved to go on Sunday drives along the river and then for a walk at the cottage on Lake Erie where she had an enviable knack for spotting and collecting "luckys". She was a dedicated employee of the Windsor Board of Education for over 18 years and during those years, worked at several schools all over the City. At each school, she brought her love of books and of reading; her library helpers were always a great source of joy as were the many students, volunteers and teachers with whom she worked. Her talents were not limited to creating the world's best pastry, mincemeat tarts and shortbread but also extended to the stage, where she designed and painted the background for HD Taylor's version of "Carousel". A lover of animals, her home was never without a cat, a few dogs over the years, or birds at the back yard feeders. Marian was the best Mom and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Special thanks to the staff at Chateau Gardens in Parkhill, Ontario for their compassion, love and special care of our Mom. We cannot thank you enough for all you do and did. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Windsor-Essex County Humane Society or to the Goodfellows of Windsor. Visiting Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service Thursday at 10 a.m. with Rev. Olav Kitchen officiating at Families First 3260 Dougall Ave. South Windsor, 519-969-5841. Interment Victoria Memorial Gardens.
