Martin Glos
Peacefully, on March 10, 2011, at the age of 88, with his loving family by his side. Cherished husband of Dora for 63 years. Dear father of Stephanie Greaves, Marcia and John Norwood, Randi and Janet Glos, Drew Glos and Wendy Glos. Loving brother of Jerry Glos and Mary Rishaw, and the late John, Carl and David. Will be sadly missed by 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Born in Slovakia, Martin immigrated to Windsor with his parents, where he attended Gordon McGregor School and W.D. Lowe Vocational School. Martin served in the Canadian Army and while stationed in Vancouver, he met the love of his life, Dora. After serving in the Canadian Army, Martin graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Detroit Institute of Technology. Following his graduation, he worked in the family construction business. In 1965 he joined his two brothers, Carl and Jerry in the Architectural and Engineering design business, where he worked on a number of significant projects across Canada. Martin enjoyed camping, gardening and traveling. He and Dora often entertained groups of family and friends at their lakeside home in Leamington. Martin was a very active member in the First Baptist Church in Kingsville, where he sang in the choir for many years. He was also a Deacon in the church and served on various church committees. If you so desire, donations to the Parkinson Foundation of Southwestern Ontario would be appreciated by the family. Visitation will be Sunday 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Families First 3260 Dougall Ave. South Windsor, 519-969-5841. Funeral will be held Monday, at First Baptist Church, 58 Division St. North, Kingsville. Visitation from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. followed by Service at 1:30 p.m. Interment to follow.
