Monica Irene Plante

On Tuesday, March 22, our wonderful mother, Monica Irene, left us to join her Ed, who had gone on ahead on Dec. 17, 2010. Ed and Monica grew up just a few doors apart on Parent Avenue. They married in 1941 at 7 o'clock in the morning, in a February snowstorm. Coming from a strong and loving family, Monica raised us, her eleven children, with much love, great food and many, many laughs. Our mother's humour lit up every room she was in and continued through her final years, despite her illness. Her five sons, Edward (Tony Piscetelli), William (Janine), Regis (Maria), Gregory (Kathy 2009), Michael and six daughters Janet (Ken Ouellette), Nancy (Saul Nosanchuk), Rosemary (Harold Williams), Mary Lou (John Carruthers), Susan Novelletto and Andrea (Tony Kellam) loved her more than words can say. Monica has 17 grandchildren- Laura (Francis) Bird, Brendan (Terra) Burke, Martin Ouellette, Zachary Williams (Jennifer), Hudson, Audrey, Meredith and William Plante, Nicholas (Jasmine) Plante, Jessie (Nikola) Stojakovic , Sarah McCarthy (Chris), Kristina and Daniel Novelletto, Anna and Monica Plante and Samantha and Rachel Kellam and 5 great grandchildren, Lily, Wyatt, Emmett, Larissa and Owen. She is also survived by her sisters Cecila Ford (Carl) and Doreen Theaker (Russ), sister-in-law Marion (Harold) Masse, brother in law and sister in law Robert and Theresa Plante and many nieces and nephews who loved to be at Aunt Monica's table. Our dear family friend, Denise Meloche, helped to make the days better for the "Best Gal on the Block". In the fullness of her lifelong faith, Monica joins her parents Maude and Regis Masse, her brothers Harold, Nelson (Ivy) and Ronald (Laurette) Masse and her sisters Evelyn (Ray) Teno and Angela (Joseph) Plunkett, in eternal rest. Our mother's courage, determination and wit will continue to inspire us. If you so desire, donations made to Drouillard Place or Monica Plante Fund (Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board) would be appreciated by the family. Visitation Thursday 7-9 pm and Friday 2-5 & 7-9 pm at Families First 1065 Lauzon Rd. East Windsor 519-969-5841 with parish prayers Friday at 4:30 pm. On Saturday, family and friends are invited to meet at St Theresa's Church, 1991 Norman Rd., after 11:30 am followed by Mass of Christian burial at 12 noon. Interment St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
