Nathalie Krentz

Krentz, Natalie (Martin),

Beloved daughter of Gottlieb Martin and Wilhelmine Bilof, was born in Kolo, Poland, May 13, 1912. Her mother died when she was 8 and her father when she was a girl of 16. Young and single, at 18 years of aged she determined to emigrate to Canada, and left for a new land, a better life and the hope of one day joining family living in the USA. Sponsored by the Lutheran Church in Canada, she arrived in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, lived and worked with a farm family, and moved to Edmonton where she joined other young people from the "old country." She met and married her husband, Emil, and together they began their journey of companionship and love which lasted for 63 years until Emil's death in 1994. Natalie bore two sons, Eugene and Arthur. In 1938 Emil and Natalie, with their children moved to Windsor to be closer to family in the USA. Here they raised a family and shared their life with friends. After the war, they were joined by Emil's parents, sisters and families, and by Natalie's brothers, sisters, a niece and their families. Eugene married Joyce (Triolet) and Arthur married Caroline (Sabutsch). Natalie is the grandmother of Paul (Christina), Cindy (Michael), Tammy (Gary), Nathan, and Adrienne. She is great grandmother to Hannah, Abby (Newman); Jonathan, Jordan, Jennifer (Krentz); Nicholas, Katie, Kyle (Farley). Surviving family includes: her sister, Else Lange, Windsor; her brothers, Adolf Martin, Windsor, Albert Martin, Kingsville, and Ewald Martin, Kiel, Germany. She retired from the Windsor Public Library. She was a faithful Christian and charter member of Peace Lutheran Church. In 1994, 6 months after Emil's death, she moved from her home to Brouillette Manor, Tecumseh. We extend thanks to all family, friends, and especially the doctor, nurses and staff who provided tender care in her declining years. Natalie passed away peacefully and quietly on Tuesday, January 16th, in the presence of Eugene and Arthur, listening to the consolation of God's Word, to music, to the German Christmas carols of her childhood, and assured of God's great love for her. Memorial tributes may be given to Peace Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 18, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Peace Lutheran Church, 1971 Rossini Blvd at Tecumseh Rd. The Funeral Service will be held at the church, 10:00 am on Friday, Pastor Arthur Schiemann officiating. Interment Victoria Memorial Gardens. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Families First Funeral Home & Chapel (969-5841) 2670 Dougall Ave.
