Roberta Fox

Roberta was born August 29, 1918 in Crosby, Leeds, Ontario to Lorne Craig Emmons and Leila Melissa Gallagher. She grew up living above her father's cheese factory with her sisters Lorraine and Evelyn. She graduated from the Brockville Business College. During WW II she served in the Canadian WAC. After the war she worked as a secretary at the General Milk Company in Brockville. It was there she met Thomas Fox and they were married March 22, 1948. They moved to Rockport, Ontario where Tom was a Customs Officer on the Thousand Island Bridge. It was in Rockport in 1952 that she gave birth to Lorne. In 1957 they moved to Amherstburg when Tom was transferred as Excise Officer at the Seagram plant. During her Amherstburg years, Roberta worked as secretary for several school boards and was also secretary for the Wessex branch of the Canadian Cancer Society. She had an active role in the Christ Church (Anglican) Chancel Guild. She loved five pin bowling and euchre games with friends. In 1991 they moved to Windsor to live across the street from her son Lorne, his wife Mary, and their sons Thomas and Stephen. Her husband Tom passed away in 2002. Roberta moved into assisted living in 2009, most recently at Oak Park LaSalle taking her precious cat Evelyn with her.

Roberta passed away October 3, 2012 at age 94. Roberta will be remembered and greatly missed by her family and many friends as a kind, loving, gentle and wise person, with a smile on her face and a good word for everyone. At Roberta's request cremation took place and her ashes will be buried alongside those of her late husband at Christ Church, Amherstburg.

Roberta's family and friends are recognizing and celebrating her life in private.
