The Ghoul taught us college kids that being silly was cool.

I met Roger in class at St. Clair College. We clicked immediately is spite of our very different styles. There was an admiration which we shared - in fact, to the very end. He allowed me to custom-paint his '70 Gremlin - the first one in Windsor.  We shared a love for Ron Sweed, the crazy, warm-hearted TV host known as The Ghoul.  Ron passed away on April 1 of this year, and April 1 was the date that American Motors had unveiled the Gremlin.

He and I were one half of the passengers in a car returning from Toronto, in which our car, driven by another student, was catastrophically destroyed in a night ice storm on 401 in 1974.

Roger and I celebrated each other's birthdays every year until this past one, and our aim was to see who could make the most outrageous birthday card.

Roger was devoted, insightful and a very calming influence to his friends. Our duty now is to pass along the qualities he left us with to those in our future who will never have the privilege of knowing him.
