Velma Bruno

Passed away peacefully on April 1, 2011 at Windsor Regional Hospital-Metropolitan Campus. Beloved wife of John for 65 years. Cherished mother of Joan (Ripu 2001), Tony (Helen), Frances (Peter), Catherine and John (Erika). Proud grandmother of Sean, Dominique, Vanessa (Adam), Ian and Benedict. Great-grandmother of Meghan and Meghan's brother to be.



Velma was born in Montreal to Mary and Sam Walker. Sister to Stanley (Mona), Catherine, Howard (Phillis), Shirley (Norman), Lorna (Orville), Talosa (Gerry) and Earl (Shirley). Predeceased by her mother-in-law and father-in-law Constance and Anthony Bruno. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.



As a young woman Velma was the Assistant to the Director of the Engineering Institute of Canada in Montreal. She was a gifted pianist and excelled at swimming, skating, skiing and biking.



Velma will be remembered for her beauty, her many acts of kindness and her selfless acts of devotion to her family and friends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.



The family would like to express a special thank-you to the wonderful staff at Banwell Gardens for the care they provided to Velma.



Donations to the Downtown Mission would be appreciated by the family. Visitation Sunday 3-5 & 7-9pm at Families First 3260 Dougall Ave. South Windsor, 519-969-5841. On Monday, family and friends are invited to meet at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church (804 Grand Marais Rd. E.) after 9:30am, followed by Mass at 10:30am. Procession to Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
