October 18, 1931 – May 31, 2019
I will not be able to attend the visitation or funeral mass so I wanted to share this. I have numerous fond memories of Mrs. Benedetta Nardone having known her for close to 40 years. As I recalled those memories, there were 2 distinct themes that connected all of them; unconditional love for her family and incredible food.
I first met her when my sister started dating Marco. As Patti and Marco became more serious, our family was invited over to the Nardone home for Christmas Dinner. I will never forget the amount of food that she cooked. I would finish one tasty treat and another was being served. The meal was exceptional! Regardless of how much I ate and how stuffed I was, Mrs. Nardone had a way of persuading me to eat more.
Before he became my brother-in-law, Marco always teased me and joked around; actually he still does (ha ha). But something changed in him when he was with his Mother. I could tell how deeply he loved and respected her. She loved her sons!
When my nieces Christina and Jennifer were born, Mrs. Nardone extended that unconditional love to them. She was such a loving and caring Nonna who impacted their lives in many positive ways. I marvelled at the cakes she would bake for their birthdays; incredible. She was a talented woman!
These are but a few of the memories I have of Benedetta Nardone but with such little space, I shall end it here. I will be thinking of everyone over the next few days and weeks because it truly is difficult when you lose someone special.
