Thank You!

First, let me say thank you for being you. Thank you for accepting me into your family those so many years ago and always treating me as a family member always. Thank you for being not only an amazing Mom, but thank you for being the best grandma in the world. My kids were the luckiest! When a Mom decides to work outside the home it is so much easier knowing your child is being well cared for, but also not easy watching your children be more excited about the person coming in Monday to Friday at 7:30 a.m. than the person leaving and at the time can be painful to hear "but does Grandma have to leave" which is the first thing you hear as you walk through the doors. There were those Saturdays when the kids would say "can we go to Grandmas" house? In hindsight, how lucky was I and how lucky were they? One story sticks out in my head.... a call from the Amherstburg Medical Centre. The nurse on the other end of the phone saying, there is nothing to worry about, but Daniel had a little fall, and he's here with Grandma and will need a few stitches. He's fine, he's not even crying. Me, o.k. I am on my way, that might be a good idea, like I said Daniel is fine, but we are not sure about Grandma, she's pretty upset. I know that night there was no sleep at Grandma's house for Grandpa, because she had him call about every 15 minutes to see if Daniel was o.k. Also, the call the next morning... "do you still want me to babysit?" Thank you for being the best baby sitter in the world!!! Thank you for raising my kids into the wonderful adults they have become. Thankfully, you played a huge role in that, and I am forever grateful for the love, the joy, the smiles and laughs you gave them always! Thank you for showing me that turkey stuffing did not come from a box. Even as recently as this past Thanksgiving, I make Grandmas stuffing. Your turkey stuffing will always be a part of the holidays!! Thank you for sharing your love of Charlie Pride, George Jones, Tammy Wynette..... again happy memories of days when we would travel for hours to see good old country music! Again a happy memory for me,you dragging a 6 month pregnant woman by the hand, stepping over people sitting in the grass in Orangeville, Ontario, so you could get a little closer to Charlie!!! And when the helicopter landed and George Jones stepped off, the smile on your face could have lit a dark room....there were so many dances..... I know there is music playing and your favorites are being enjoyed with your forever dance partner Gord. Thank you for the camping trip memories, especially the one when some crazy young boys left for chinese food in the middle of a foggy night at Alora Gorge, and me ready to kill them when we finally saw the headlights turn on the road. I had kept Mark awake wearing out a trail in the carpet of the fifth wheel, when I opened the door ready to scream, there you were out in your nightgown giving Larrry, Mark and Glen a piece of your mind! I don't remember you doing that very often, but I closed the door, went to bed and enjoyed the next day as the boys tried so hard to avoid that look you kept giving them. Thank you for being the best great-grandma in the world! There was always a crowd wherever you were sitting.... a baby on your lap, and your arms full of the love you gave and got back. Some of the most recent pictures are the best, and again I am so happy that my grandchildren will remember a Great Grandma that always had a smile and a laugh to share. I guess as I sit here in writing this, there is so many things to be grateful for and again I say thank you for that. As your family and friends begin the task of saying goodbye, let me end with another thank you. Thanks again for simply being you! Rest in peace Beulah Dent, you will be forever remembered and forever missed!
