Elson and Prior Park College, Bath

News has reached us from Georgetown, B G of Elson Gomes of whom all contact was lost.  Since leaving Prior Park, he has had a most varied career.  For the first two years he worked in his father''s business.  In 1942 wander-mania seized him.  He wished to participate in the war and set out working his way in a Bauxite freighter to Canada to join the RCAF  On the way his ship was chased for two days and two nights by a German submarine and its supply ship.  Happily an unexpected fog saved them.

Having done his training wth RCAF in Montreal he was sent overseas and served continuously from the landing in Normandy to Germany.  After many vicissitudes he was sent back to England.  While awaiting repatriation he filled many roles one of which was that of an Egyptian soldier in the filming of Ceasar and Cleopatra!

"As my troop train from Bournemouth to Liverpool, he writes, "passed through Bath, I caught a glimpse of Prior Park and I would, have given anything to be able to break my journey and pay a visit to the dear old place."  Back in Canada he took a course in Business Administration.  Now he is really settled down with a wife and three children and living in Port of Spain, Trinidad.
