O'Brien, Gerald "Bud"

Passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on October 18, 2011 at the age of 90 years. Loving husband to the late Pauline (nee Hill) May 14, 1977. Devoted and loving father to Geralyn and Robert George, Patrick and Carol O'Brien, Michael and Susan O'Brien, Maureen and Robert Guignard, Paul and Diane O'Brien, Kate and Terry Marentette, David and Leslie O'Brien and the late Joseph. Precious grandpa to Lindsay and Reid, Colleen and Katherine, Kelly and Lisa, Matt and Brie, Laura and Megan, Aaron and Elise, Sammy and Brendan and great-grandson Brayden. Dear son to the late Charles and Madeline O'Brien. Beloved brother to Shirley, wife of the late Jack McLean, Mary O'Brien, and the late Richard "Dickie" O'Brien, Rita O'Brien and Ellen McRae. Many nieces, nephews and friends and life long friend, Father Vince Thompson. Bud was an avid sports enthusiast, and coached with the Riverside Minor Baseball and Hockey Associations. He was a "SUPERFAN" when it came to all of his grandchildren's sports and a mentor and friend to all their life endeavours. Bud was a life long community volunteer with Junior Achievement and United Way of Windsor and Essex County. Bud had a long and outstanding career with the Ford Motor Company as Purchasing Manager. He was never without a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eyes. On behalf of the entire family we would like to send a thank you to the staff of Extendicare Tecumseh Oldcastle Wing and Dr. DeMarco, Bud's family physician. Your kindness and compassion will always be remembered. If you so desire memorial donations to the Windsor & Essex County United Way or Covenant House would be appreciated by the family. Visiting Thursday 2-5, 7-9 p.m. Parish prayers Thursday 8:30 p.m. at Families First 1065 Lauzon Rd. East Windsor, 519-969-5841. On Friday, family and friends are invited to meet at St. Anne's Church (Tecumseh Rd at Lesperance) after 10:00 a.m. with Words of Remembrance at 10:50 followed by Mass at 11:00. Interment Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
