Helen Boomer

Born January 13, 1921 in Kingston, ON, Helen passed away in Windsor on October 19, 2011 at the age of 90. She was predeceased by her parents, Gordon William Leavoy and Mary Beatrice Kennedy, and former spouse, Teddy Ion Boomer, as well as sisters Bea Wild and Pat Crichton, and brothers Gordon, Nelson, and Kenneth. Helen is survived by her four children, Cheera Crow, Dyanne Donahue (Larry), Ted (Louise), and Ken (Cindy); her four grandchildren Eryne Donahue (Neil Fletcher), Niles Donahue (Amber), Caitlin and Emily Boomer, and her great-granddaughter Aurora Donahue. Helen was a talented artist and passionate gardener who appreciated the beauty in the world. In spite of great hardship, she made sure all her children received post-secondary education and helped them realize their dreams. She was affectionately known as "Ma" to many at California's and the Bluesfest. The family is very grateful for the heartfelt and compassionate care shown to Helen by the staff of Brouillette Manor during her long stay. Visiting Friday 3-5pm & 7-9pm. A celebration of Helen's life will be held Saturday 1pm at FAMILIES FIRST 3260 DOUGALL AVE. SOUTH WINDSOR, 519-969-5841. Interment at Victoria Memorial Gardens.
