Every so often a family comes to Hospice that you just bond with a little more closely. Shirley and her beautiful family was one of those for me. In this photo, Shirley and her daughter insisted on "Crowning" me with one of Shirley's exquisitely knitted creations. I loved trying to find ways to make Shirley's very limited diet attractive and appetizing for her; I loved making sandwiches for her adult children; I loved serving the entire family homemade meatballs and spaghetti one Friday evening in December. Shirley's passing was both a blessing and a tragedy for anyone who knew and loved her, including me. Godspeed and rest in peace beautiful Shirley. Karen Tinsley, Hospice Kitchen Volunteer
