I had the pleasure to meet Bill over dinner at the Windsor Symphony a few times some years ago.  My memory is of a person of great depth, mostly kept to himself, but shared occasionally with a solid helping of humour - especially when the company needed it.  I also appreciated his sense of composure and purpose when life handed him a tough deal.
