MONARCH YEARS

BOY! The times we had at Monarch Secondary School. Hard work and even harder fun. The students loved Fred as well as the staff. A joke here and there and everything was well with the world. Fred made us all laugh. When we had a staff party, we would take bets as to when Fred and Cathy would arrive. He was always the last one to show up. He marched to his own drummer.

We spent a great week-end (perhaps it was a week) driving Terry up to northern Ontario to work at a camp. Along the way, we stopped and did some fishing in a small river. Fred got an expensive fly caught in some log under water. Being a practical man, (and a bit "tight"), there was no way Fred was going to give up that hook. Into the river he jumped, dove down through the rushing water and untangled his hook to be used for another day. He never did catch any fish.

I enjoyed sitting in Fred and Cathy's kitchen while my daughter was at Forest Glade park in one of her classes. The hour or so was chit chat about the family. Cathy kept the coffee coming and Fred  praised his kids for their adventures. Such simple things but things I will always remember about my FRIEND FRED.
